EN_CONSCIOUS THINKING 20160329.20220813
CONSCIOUS THINKING is only a part separated from our whole thinking, to distinguish it from the part called non-conscious thinking, i.e. such thinking which we are not aware of and that seems to work outside of our consciousness, which used to be called the subconscious. The renaming came later, apparently to avoid the suggestion that the subconscious is something subordinate, something smaller, and something less important than our consciousness.
Consciousness is actually what we identify ourselves with. We often think that what we are is only the consciousness, and we overlook that it was our subconscious that mainly determines our decisions and behavior. Sigmund Freud himself already metaphorically pointed out that our consciousness is only a small island that the great ocean of our subconscious still tolerates.
